Premarital Counseling

Premarital counseling is an important part of preparing for marriage. The focus of this work can vary widely, from strengthening the relationship, deepening understanding of each other, or working out issues before marriage. Whatever brings clients to premarital counseling, my holistic approach is designed to foster relational intimacy and help the marriage thrive.

I offer a three phase, 6 session approach that includes:

    • Creating emotionally safe space to share about how both partners’ childhood experiences impact their relationship as adults.

    • Building skills and trust in the areas of communication, problem solving, and conflict management, in order to increase joy and connection.

    • Understanding individual and shared values in the areas of finances, intimacy, children, quality time, career, connection, leisure, gender roles, boundaries, and trust.

Marriage & Relationship Counseling

A healthy marriage is essential for individual health and wellbeing. And every marriage requires ongoing work to create and deepen trust to help the relationship to thrive. Whether it is to enhance connection and deepen love, or to solve issues that have compromised the relationship, marriage counseling can provide insight and assist in creating an emotionally safe space to engage in this work together.

In my work with couples, I provide a balanced and holistic approach from an EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) perspective. If the marriage is facing crisis, relational distance, loss of connection, or unproductive conflict, couples counseling can help partners build trust and connection with each other. By focusing on adult attachment and bonding, I help couples turn towards each other to engage conflict, develop healthier communication, build/repair trust, and increase joy in their relationship.
