Do you accept insurance?
I accept most out of network plans. To check if your plan is accepted and for information about rates, please contact the reception desk at 865-670-0988 or visit the practice website here.
How often do you meet with clients?
I schedule appointments according to your needs and what I have available. I typically recommend that most clients begin with a weekly session and then once we are established, we may decide to meet every other week. However, I realize that time and budget may not allow for weekly counseling sessions, so we will work together to figure out what works best for you.
How long are sessions?
Sessions are 50 minutes in length.
What hours are you available?
I make sure to keep morning, afternoon, and evening appointments to accommodate your needs. My hours vary slightly throughout the year. You can access my current schedule by calling the reception desk at 865-670-0988.
What ages do you work with? Do you see both women and men?
I work with individuals across the adult lifespan, from teenagers as young as 18 years-old through later adulthood. I see both men and women at various ages and stages.
I am a new mom and want to come for counseling but am home with my baby all day. Can I bring my baby to session?
Of course! I want services to be accessible, no matter what your child care situation, so you are welcome to bring your little one. I keep a little basket of toys and books in my office to help keep the little ones entertained.
Is your office accessible?
It is! All of our office locations are accessible. The location I work from (Cherokee Mills) has two accessible bathrooms, a handicap parking space on the side of the building, and reserved parking spaces in front of the building for Ebenezer clients. My office has a 2-3 person couch and the plenty of floor space. We want our space to be welcoming to all, regardless of your ability status. If you need specific accommodations, please let our office staff know when you call to schedule an appointment.
Do I have to be a person of faith to come to see you for counseling?
Absolutely not. While my faith and worldview certainly shape my approach to counseling and my understanding of human behavior, I in no way require that my clients share the same perspective. I have been honored to work with individuals from a variety of faith backgrounds, including those who consider themselves to be non-religious. I value diversity and integrate faith and spirituality only when my clients want it as a part of the counseling process.
What is your theoretical approach to counseling?
My theoretical approach has evolved throughout my years in client care. Presently, I combine Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) with an Attachment lens and use some Narrative Techniques. My approach is relational, compassionate, evidence-based, and interactive.
Are there any issues you don’t work with?
This is a great question. I welcome people of all races, ethnicities, religions, genders, ages, and sexual orientations. However there are some issues that are best served by therapists with certain specializations. If I don’t have the training or experience to competently walk you through the issues at hand, I will refer you to someone who does. I am committed to ensuring that you get the best care possible, even if it is not with me.
